Event Description: 

 

California Supreme Court Justice Goodwin Liu will present on his report “A Portrait of Asian Americans in the Law,” the first-ever comprehensive study of Asian Americans in the legal profession. http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-liu-asian-american-lawyers-20170723-story.html

 

A panel comprised of members of the judiciary, private sector, and academia will join Justice Liu in a discussion of the findings of this study and their implications, including:

 

· Sandra Leung, General Counsel, Bristol Meyers Squibb

· The Honorable Kiyo Matsumoto, U.S. District Court, E.D.N.Y

· Petal Modeste, Associate Dean for Student Affairs Administration, Columbia Law School 

· Larry Tu, Chief Legal Officer, CBS Corporation

 

Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer and the Asian American Bar Association of New York are co-sponsors of the event.  Attendees will be required to RSVP and there will be a maximum of 200 attendees.   It will be open to APKS lawyers, AABANY members and friends, and other minority bar associations.  It will not be recorded. 

 

The Portrait Project presentation will begin at 6:30 pm, followed by the panel discussion, and then a reception at 8 pm, on the 4th Floor.
