AABANY Fall Conference - September 23, 2017: Now Accepting Program Submissions

Save the date for the AABANY Fall Conference: Take Charge | Lead Change on September 23, 2017

On Saturday, September 23, we'll be taking charge and leading change at Fordham Law School. The AABANY Fall Conference is a full day of CLEs, career panels, mentoring, and fun -- the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to fulfill their CLE requirements, move their career forward, or connect with new and old friends. We hope to see you there.

From now until June 30, 2017, we are accepting program submissions for the Fall Conference. If you have an idea that you're passionate about and would like to turn it into an educational experience for others, we encourage you to submit a program proposal. To do so, please contact the appropriate Committee Chair and let them know that you're interested. All Committee Chairs have the submission forms and can help you with your next steps. If you're interested in submitting a program proposal, but are not sure which Committee you should contact, email fall.conference@aabany.org.

The Asian American Vote, June 22 and June 27

During the 2016 Presidential Elections, 13,846 Asian American voters participated in AALDEF’s multilingual exit poll, the largest nonpartisan survey of its kind in the nation. It was conducted in 11 Asian languages and English in 55 cities across 14 states – NY, NJ, MA, PA, VA, MD, MI, GA, LA, FL, TX, NV, NM, and CA – and Washington, DC. The exit poll reveals vital information about Asian American voting patterns that is often overlooked in mainstream voter surveys.

At this special presentation, learn about the Asian American vote in the Presidential and Congressional elections and opinions on key issues by ethnicity, nativity, party enrollment, age, and English proficiency. We will present national data, as well as special data on New York City.

The training is being offered on June 22 and June 27.

To RSVP: Call 212.966.5932 with extension 206 or votingrights@aaldef.org (Space is limited. Please RSVP)

Congratulations to Judge Denny Chin

Judge Chin was the first Asian American appointed to the Second Circuit. He was born in Hong Kong and graduated from Stuyvesant High School. Judge Chin also teaches legal writing at Fordham Law School.

Congratulations to Pauline Yeung-Ha

Congratulations to AABANY leader Pauline Yeung-Ha who was honored on June 1 at Sirico’s in Brooklyn as one of Brooklyn’s Women of Distinction. This award goes out to women who have made a significant contribution to their community. Pauline Yeung-Ha was chosen because of her tireless efforts to make a difference in her community, and as a dynamic attorney who shares her knowledge of estate planning, tax and elder law, both through the law firm and in her generous volunteer efforts. Her special focus is the under-served elderly and their caregivers in the Asian American community in Brooklyn as well as throughout New York City.
