Membership Form


Please select the type of membership you would like to have. Memberships run from February 1st of the current year until January 31st of the following year. Membership dues are assessed on an annual basis.

Active Member - Private Sector
     Members of the New York State bar and attorneys admitted to practice law in any jurisdiction in the United States who maintain an office or reside in New York State are eligible to become full members.
Active Member - Public Sector
     Reduced membership fees are available to government lawyers, public interest lawyers, lawyers in the judiciary, and educators.
Active Member - Patron
     Prospective members who wish to make a substantial contribution to the work of the Association can become Patrons by paying dues of $100. Patrons receive special acknowledgment.
Friend of AABANY
     Membership is available to law school graduates who have not yet been admitted to a state bar, and to non-lawyers. Friends of AABANY receive announcements of AABANY events and are welcome to participate in committees, but do not receive NAPABA membership or the privilege of voting and holding office in AABANY.
Active Member - Sponsor
    

If your firm purchased sponsorship membership at our annual dinner for you, please select this membership choice. Upon verification, you will be credited for membership dues for this year.

Student Member
    

Any individual attending an American Bar Association accredited law school and who is employed, resides, attends a law school in the State of New York, or intends to sit for the New York State Bar Examination. Student Members shall be entitled to all privileges and rights of Active Members, excluding the right to vote at any/all meetings and/or hold office, except that of student liaison. A Student Member may continue his/her membership for sixty (60) days after graduation or after sitting for a state bar exam, whichever is longer, but in no event for a period of more than two years after graduation from law school.

Retired Member
    

Any attorney who has retired from the practice of law, has not practiced law for a period of three (3) years, previously practiced law in or currently resides in the Stale of New York, and has been a member of the Association in good standing prior to retirement from the practice of law. Retired Members shall be entitled to all privileges and rights of Active Members, excluding the right to vote at any/all meetings and/or hold office and shall be exempt from the payment of dues.

Paralegal Member
    

Paralegal Members - Any person who within the State of New York: (1) contracts with or is employed by an attorney, law firm, corporation, governmental agency, or other entity or (2)  erforms substantive legal work under the supervision of a licensed attorney who assumes professional responsibility for the final work product. Paralegal Members shall be entitled to all privileges and rights of Active Members, excluding the right to vote at any/all meetings and/or hold office.
