TOPIC: Happiness for Lawyers. Have you ever wondered . . . "What do I want from life, anyway?" And, then did you think, "I want to be happy." That's what came over author Gretchen Rubin and she decided to dedicate a year to a happiness project. The result? One of the most thoughtful and engaging works on happiness to have emerged from the recent explosion of interest in the subject. At this event, Gretchen will discuss the findings from her New York Times best-selling books, The Happiness Project and Happier at Home, and her current project, Before and After. With probing questions posed by author, workplace and women's expert Deborah Epstein Henry, Gretchen will share wisdom about how lawyers can find greater happiness at work and at home. Gretchen will provide tips to enable you to identify what it is that would make you happy and teach you to make resolutions that are concrete and manageable. She will explore the factors that most influence happiness at home, such as possessions, marriage, time, parenthood, body, and neighborhood. Through facilitated dialogue and practical examples, Gretchen will also give us a sampling of her latest work - to develop sixteen strategies that help us make and break our habits. By imparting her signature blend of memoir, research, and experimentation, Gretchen will inspire you to embark on a path to improve your own happiness and bring it to your workplace and those at home who surround you.

DISTINGUISHED GUEST: Gretchen Rubin is the author of six books, including New York Times best-sellers, The Happiness Project and Happier at Home. In her happiness books and on The Happiness Project blog, Gretchen reports on her daily adventures in happiness and accounts of her experiences test-driving ancient wisdom, scientific studies, and lessons from popular culture about happiness. Her current project is Before and After, about how we make and break habits. Gretchen is an enthusiastic proponent of using technology to engage with readers about ideas, and she has a wide, active following on social media. "The Happiness Project" was even an answer on the game-show Jeopardy! Gretchen is much in demand as a speaker, and she has addressed corporate audiences at places such as GE, Google, LinkedIn, Accenture, and Procter & Gamble, as well as university audiences such as Yale Law School, Harvard Business School, and Wharton. She makes frequent TV appearances on Today, Kathie Lee & Hoda, CBSSundayMorning, and The Early Show, among others. A graduate of Yale and Yale Law School, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Law Journal and winner of the Edgar M. Cullen Prize, Gretchen was clerking for Justice Sandra Day O'Connor when she realized she wanted to be a writer.
