American Mock Trial Regionals

2/15/2020 to 2/16/2020

When: February 15-16
Feb. 15, 8:30 AM - Feb. 16, 5:00 PM
Where: Iona
715 North Avenue
New Rochelle, New York  10801
United States

This coming February, Iona is hosting one of AMTA’s regional tournaments.

Iona is located at 715 North Avenue, New Rochelle, New York.

Two rounds (lasting up to three hours) will take place on Saturday, February 15th, and two rounds will take place on Sunday, February 16th.  Each day has a morning round (from approximately 9:30 to 12:30) and an afternoon round (from approximately 2:00 to 5:00).  The tournament will have between 20-25 teams from schools in the northeast – which is one of the most competitive regions in the country.

We expect the rounds to be outstanding.  We will have breakfast and lunch for the judges before each round.  By far, the most difficult part of hosting a quality mock trial tournament is finding qualified practicing attorneys ready, willing and able to serve as “judges” to evaluate and score the students.  If we’re unable to fill the rounds with practitioners, then the students end up being judged either by law students or by coaches of other teams at the tournament.  That is never an ideal situation, especially at a regional tournament when their season (which involves months of arduous work) is on the line.     We understand that it is President’s Day weekend and that some of you likely have plans to be away.  But if you are able and willing to judge at least one round that weekend, we would be IMMENSELY grateful.

If you can judge MORE than one round, then you are a real superstar.  If anybody can judge, please “save the date” and let me know, and I will send you further information. I apologize if you are receiving this notice a second time; if you have already registered to participate, or cannot participate, I ask that you please consider forwarding this notice to your colleagues.

Please note, any attorney that participates will be awarded three CLE credit hours.  We have been approved at this time from CLE to provide these credits. Upon checking out at the tournament, you will receive your certificate.
