The Rock Springs Massacre of 1885

Acts of hostility and violence against Asian Americans soared during the pandemic, but history reveals that such acts are nothing new.
The late 19th century was riddled with anti-Asian violence, including the massacre of 28 Chinese in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in 1885.
Likewise, pandemic rhetoric about the "China virus" and "Kung Flu" is not the first time AAPIs have been targeted over purported health concerns. This program examines the history of anti-Asian violence and rhetoric in this country through narration, reenactment of court proceedings, and historic photos and drawings.

CLE credit will be available.
