The Prosecutors Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) will be hosting its 16th Anniversary Reception, which will be held at the Appellate Division, First Department (27 Madison Avenue, Manhattan) on November 13, Wednesday, from 5:30-9:00pm. Bridget G. Brennan, Special Narcotics Prosecutor for the City of New York, will be honored and presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her outstanding public service, her commitment to diversity, and her staunch support of the AABANY Prosecutors Committee since its inception in 2008.

The AABANY Prosecutors Committee’s growing membership is comprised of prosecutors of Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) heritage from all five New York City District Attorney’s Offices and Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, as well as Assistant Attorney Generals from the New York State Attorney General’s Office, and federal prosecutors from the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Our annual Reception honors leaders who have made significant contributions to the criminal justice system and our Courts, actively work toward building trust and communication between the APIDA community and local prosecutors’ offices, and demonstrably support the professional development and advancement of APIDA prosecutors, lawyers and law students. Past honorees have included: Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau; United States Attorney Preet Bharara; Appellate Division, Second Department Presiding Justice Randall T. Eng; U.S. District Court Judge Pamela K. Chen; U.S. District Court Judge Lorna G. Schofield; and U.S. District Court Judge Diane Gujarati (as Deputy Chief, Criminal Division, United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York).

Doors to the Appellate Division will open at 5:30pm. Speeches will begin at 6:00 pm, with welcoming remarks by Appellate Division, First Department Presiding Justice Dianne T. Renwick in the courtroom. Event ends 8:30-9:00pm. Reception will be held before and after the program on the lower level of the courthouse.

We anticipate the attendance of many distinguished guests, including District Attorneys, Executive Assistant District Attorneys, State and Federal judges, and community leaders.
