Get Connected @ AABANY with a Mentor

Get Connected @ AABANY with a Mentor

One of the most frequently asked questions we get at AABANY is “How do I find a mentor?” To facilitate the matching of those seeking mentors (“mentees”) with mentors, AABANY is launching a formal Mentorship Program. The distinguishing feature of AABANY's Mentorship Program is to match mentees and mentors based on hobbies and interests in addition to professional practice areas so that mentors and mentees can connect in more meaningful ways. To learn more about it, visit the AABANY Mentorship Program page at this link. We encourage all prospective mentees and mentors to visit that page today and sign up. The deadline to apply is August 15, with the goal of having mentors and mentees meet in person during the cocktail reception at the Fall Conference on September 17. We hope you will take part in the launch of this new AABANY program.

Students and Attorneys Meet and Mingle at the July Jol

Last Thursday, July 7, the AABANY Student Outreach Committee gathered together more than forty law students and attorneys at the Public House on East 41st Street for the July Jol. As we’ve come to learn, Jol is South African slang for party and the law students from area law schools, including Brooklyn, Hofstra, New York Law, Fordham, Cardozo and NYU, sure seemed to be in a partying mood. Ben Chan, Student Outreach Committee Co-chair was on hand to greet the attendees and Ferris Kim from Brooklyn Law School helped make everyone feel welcome. AABANY President Linda Lin and Past President Chris Chan joined the Jol, as did President-elect Jean Lee, Recording Secretary, Young Lawyers’ Committee and Communications Committee Co-Chair Will Ng, Prosecutors' Committee Co-chair Jim Lin and AABANY Board Member Clara Ohr. Thanks to everyone for coming out, and thanks to Jonathan Li, Inter-APALSA Council President and NAPALSA Northeast Regional Director, for the photo.
