June 19, 2019: The China Press and Sing Tao Daily published articles about the public statement from AABANY, KALAGNY, SABANY, and FALA-NY denouncing the process by which New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio formulated his plan to reform admissions to the city’s specialized high schools because he has shut out Asian American leaders and organizations from any meaningful participation.

June 4, 2019: Susan Shin, past AABANY president from 2016-2017, has joined Weil, Gotshal & Manges' complex commercial litigation practice. Shin was formerly a partner at Arnold & Porter.

May 23, 2019: Judges and members of the Asian American Bar Association of New York and the South Asian Bar Association of New York teamed up for Asian Pacific Heritage Month on Thursday to present a reenactment of two Supreme Court cases addressing historically discriminatory immigration policies for Asian immigrants. The event was covered by the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

April 30, 2019: AABANY co-sponsored an evening with former US Attorney Preet Bharara to celebrate the publication of his new book, Doing Justice: A Prosecutor's Thoughts on Crime, Punishment, and the Rule of Law at the offices of Cleary Gottlieb. The event was covered by Above the Law.

March 7, 2019: Hon. Kiyo Matsumoto, District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, participated in honoring Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor at the New York City Bar Association for her commitment to upholding the rule of law and for being a role model to young students all across America.

January 30, 2019: AABANY celebrated Fred Korematsu’s 100th birthday and New York City’s 2nd annual Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution. The historic event was presented by the Asian Practice Committee of the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA), the New York Day of Remembrance Committee, AABANY and numerous community groups. During the event, AABANY did a trial reenactment of the landmark case Korematsu v. US to celebrate. The event was covered by WNYC News.
