AABANY's Annual Meeting is taking place in February 2015. We hope to see you there! At our Annual Meeting, elections will be conducted to elect 6 Board Directors and 6 AABANY Officers for the coming year. The Officer positions include:

Please join your fellow mentors and mentees for an orientation and discussion on cultivating your mentor-mentee relationship. This will provide a great opportunity to meet or catch up with your mentor or mentee, set out your expectations of each other and of the program, and learn more from your colleagues about what has worked and not worked with their other mentor-mentee relationships.

Although Asian Pacific Americans have been often portrayed as well-assimilated, "well-off,” successful, and considered part of the model minority, in reality many APAs experience significant socio-economic challenges. This CLE program and discussion forum highlights the changing demographic and needs of the burgeoning APA population in New York City, as well as policies affecting the APA community’s access to language assistance to governmental benefits and services, specifically for housing assistance and other benefits. We also hope to provide legal tools and resources, which law school students and members of the bar can use to offer pro bono or low-cost legal assistance to low or fixed-income members of this community.

Church World Service, a new member of the New Americans Campaign, a national network of legal service organizations providing FREE citizenship services to lawful permanent residents in major cities throughout the U.S., including New York, has reached out to AABANY to seek out volunteer attorneys. As part of this collaborative, Church World Service is hosting a mega citizenship workshop on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities Center, which is located at 107-20 Northern Blvd, Corona, NY 11368.
The goal is to assist 200 lawful permanent residents apply for citizenship during the workshop.

AABANY congratulates the newly-elected officers of the NAPABA Board of Governors for the 2014-2015 board year. They were sworn into office at the Installation Banquet held on November 8, 2014, during the 26th Annual NAPABA Convention in Scottsdale, AZ.

Applications are now being accepted for AABANY’s 2014 Legal Internship Program. Open to college students, law students and law grads, AABANY is looking for a few talented, energetic and motivated interns to help plan and organize AABANY programs and events, provide research and administrative assistance and perform other tasks and assignments to advance and promote AABANY’s mission.
