Description: Over the past few years both New York City and New York State have greatly increased funding for civil legal services for low-income New Yorkers. Retired Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman made access to justice a cornerstone of his time as Chief Judge, and the De Blasio Administration has provided unprecedented funding for legal services as part of its campaign to preserve affordable housing. This event will explore how the recent expansion in civil legal services in New York City will impact low-income New Yorkers, civil legal services providers, the courts and members of the bar in general, including opportunities for new lawyers.
