Please join the Immigration Committee, GSPI Committee, and Women's Committee in AABANY's second annual yoga class for lawyers by lawyers. Our instructor from last year, Wendy Harris, will again lead us through a slow-flow, restorative session. It will be the perfect way to finish recovering from the Annual Dinner and prepare for the week. Props and mats are available at the studio. Space is limited so registration in advanced is required.
Class Description:
Slow Flow and Restorative: We will begin with a flow of sitting, standing and supine poses to warm the body up and release tension, then move into restorative postures to bring on deep relaxation, and finally you will be guided through a short guided meditation for even deeper release. For those unfamiliar with restorative yoga, it uses various props (blocks and bolsters) to support and encourage the body to open and release muscular and emotional tightness. Restorative poses are explored for longer periods of time than traditional postures and have been proven to be therapeutic, encouraging peace of mind while managing stress. This is an all levels class, whether you have no experience or years of practice behind you.
Bio:
Wendy Harris received her 200 hour certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and is a Registered Yoga Alliance teacher. She has obtained further certification in Restorative Therapeutic Yoga. Wendy teaches beginners, as well as advanced practitioners and enjoys offering options and choices to make yoga accessible to everyone.
