Dear Government Service and Public Interest Colleagues:

Please save February 26, 2015  for the next GSPI Committee Meeting. It will be an opportunity for committee members to discuss upcoming programs currently being planned and ideas for innovative and interesting events in the future.

It is also time to consider whether you would like to join the Committee Leadership.

AABANY Committee terms are ending March 31 this year.  This Committee may have 2-3 co-chair openings. PLEASE submit nominations for the next Committee co-chairs. (Self nominations are acceptable.) Please submit all nominations via email to Katrina at katrina.goyco@gmail.com with the subject line "AABANY GSPI Committee Chair Nomination" by Thursday, February 19.  We will then email all of the nominees letting them know that they have been nominated.  

All candidates who would like become a part of next year's Committee Leadership must: (1) attend this upcoming GSPI Committee meeting; and (2) say a few words at the meeting about why they would like to be a co-chair and what their ideas for the role entail, including thoughts about the upcoming year's programming agenda.

*If you have extenuating circumstances for your absence, please let Katrina know; and, your nomination may be considered at a later date.

1)  Report on “Shattering the Model Minority Myth: Asian Pacific Americans Facing Poverty in NYC,” a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program

2) Upcoming Programs: 
a) Chinese American Inclusion/Exclusion exhibit at the New York Historical Society (late March)
b) Will co-sponsor with Korean American League for Civic Action (KALCA) a discussion forum on the current debate on changing admission criteria for entrance into the NYC Specialized High Schools (early April)
