State Bar Association’s Committee on Courts of Appellate Jurisdiction and
Committee on Continuing Legal Education, in collaboration and
co-sponsorship with the Asian American

Association, Inc. * South Asian Bar Association of New York * Women’s Bar
Association of the State of New York, host this
opportunity to meet the Justices of the Appellate Division, First Department
and to hear their perspectives on brief writing and oral advocacy. The New York State Bar Association’s
Committee on Courts of Appellate Jurisdiction and the Committee on Continuing
Legal Education, and our co-sponsors listed above, are pleased to invite you to
a special event in which the Justices of the Appellate Division, First
Department have graciously agreed to attend. Experienced appellate lawyers will
ask the Justices detailed questions on their recommendations, tips, and dos and
don’ts for effective brief writing and oral argument in the First Department.
This program will focus on specific
practice in the First Department and what you should know about brief writing
and advocacy techniques in order to have the greatest chance of success in that
court.
The reception at the conclusion of
the CLE presentation will provide you the opportunity to visit with the members
of the Court and our colleagues. This
basic-to-intermediate course may be used for MCLE credit of 2.0 hours in
"Skills”by all attorneys, including those who are newly admitted (less
than 24 months)
