The LGBT Committee of the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) invites you to a special group discussion:
Transactional Identities: Navigating the Various Contexts of Coming Out for Asian American Lawyers
Join us for a roundtable discussion on coming out and being out in different contexts as an LGBTQ Asian American in the legal profession. We all operate in different spheres at different times: the professional (at your place of primary employment, when searching for new employment, or when conducting business development) and the personal (with your friends, family, or community of faith). For many, “identity” can depend on context. Join us to hear about others’ experiences harmonizing identities that may seem to be in conflict, share your own experiences, and explore how living our “authentic” selves can impact our effectiveness at work.
Discussants:
· Connie Montoya, Partner, Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP
· Janice Jabido, IP Counsel, Pratt & Whitney
· Tony Thomas, Chief Diversity Officer and Title IX Coordinator, Brooklyn College CUNY
Presenters will jump start the conversation but all are invited to share in this safe and confidential facilitated group discussion.
Moderator:
Dennis M. Quinio, Manager of Diversity & Inclusion, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP
