Please join AABANY in celebrating the theatrical run of Blowin’ Up, a feature documentary directed by Stephanie Wang-Breal. The film features Honorable Toko Serita, Queens Supreme Court, and introduces audiences to the incredible women of Human Trafficking Intervention Court, who are working tirelessly to create real systemic change. We invite you to join AABANY at the BLOWIN’ UP Theatrical Screening on April 11, 2019 7:00pm at the Quad Cinema (34 W. 13th St. NY, NY 10011). By purchasing your tickets using this page, you save $2 from the box office price of $16 per ticket.
The film explores how we can highlight the nuances and complexities of sex work, human trafficking and the criminal justice system. We hope that audiences will become more informed, nuanced, and compassionate about issues facing sex workers and trafficking survivors. After the screening, you’ll have a chance to participate in a discussion led by Beatrice Leong, AABANY Government Service and Public Interest Committee Co-Chair, with a panel comprised of attorneys and law enforcement officers who are involved with the issues raised in the film.
Please note that AABANY Director and Issues Committee Chair Chris Kwok will be leading a discussion after the April 6, 7 pm, screening of Blowin' Up. The topic is Demystifying the Asian Massage Parlor.
The show listed above is separate from this AABANY event. You can purchase tickets for the April 6 screening at: https://quadcinema.com/film/blowin-up
