Stock market investors who lose money are required to arbitrate most claims against their brokers for improper advice or fraudulent conduct. ‎Arbitration may seem like a more simplified forum than civil court, but the stakes are just as high for all parties and the unique nature of practicing in this area is hard to master. The New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Brooklyn Bar Association's CLE will shed light on this essential but often overlooked area of practice‎, and will also touch upon the disciplinary process that brokers face if they violate securities industry rules in their interaction with customers.
