AABANY Co-Sponsors: New York City’s Specialized High Schools in an Age of Diversity and Inclusion: Lessons from the Harvard Case
New York City is home to some of the finest specialized high schools in America, with concentrations in science, engineering, and the arts, just to name a few. But can their strict admission requirements be reconciled with current policies of diversity and inclusion? That issue may ultimately be determined by the pending litigation against Harvard University and its current admission protocols, a case that many expect to eventually arrive before the U.S. Supreme Court. Our learned speakers will analyze the Harvard litigation, and its ramifications for New York City’s specialized high schools, against the backdrop of Supreme Court precedent.
Join us at the Nassau County Bar Association to gain a deeper understanding of the strict admission requirements of specialized high schools, the current policies of diversity and inclusion, and what the future might hold for these proud institutions.
