Volunteer to provide limited legal assistance to unrepresented individuals regarding consumer debt issues at legal clinics throughout New York City and in Westchester.
Volunteers can earn 3 CLE CREDITS (1.5 Professional Practice, 1.5 Skills)
Appropriate for both newly admitted & experienced attorneys.
Topics Include: Introduction to CLARO; Ethical Considerations; Client Interaction; Pre-Litigation & The Life of a Debt; The Court Process & Key Motions; Substantive Defenses; Negotiating a Settlement; Stipulations
Your Commitment
To receive 3 CLE credits you must volunteer for six hours total with CLARO by August 30, 2020.
Volunteers may serve with one of the following consumer debt pro se assistance programs, all of which provide limited assistance to unrepresented individuals:
- Bronx CLARO
- Brooklyn CLARO
- Manhattan CLARO (must be a NYCLA member or Fordham Law School alumnus/a)
- Queens CLARO
- Staten Island CLARO
- Westchester CLARO
