On April 20, 2020, Alvin Bragg, former Chief Deputy at the New York State Attorney General’s Office, will be hosting a virtual town hall on “Combating Hate Crimes Together.”
The webinar will focus on how hate crimes not only impact the person targeted, but can also impact other members of their race, nationality, religion, or LGBTQ community. In addition, other topics to be addressed will include the issue of underreporting of hate crimes by victims because of their mistrust in government and the challenges people face in bringing hate crime related civil actions.
In addition to Alvin Bragg, the panelist will include:
- Chris Kwok, AABANY Issues Committee Chair
- Tom Duane, former New York State Senator
- Sania Khan, Treasurer, Muslim Bar Association of New York
- Amy Spitalnick, Executive Director, Integrity First
- Alice Wong, Chief of Staff, Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc.
The event will be held using Zoom and Facebook live. Stay tuned for more details.
