Panelists/Presenters:

Dennis Kwok - Partner of Elliott Kwok Levine & Jaroslaw LLP, Dennis is an internationally acclaimed and award-winning lawyer, recognized for his contribution to the rule of law. He was a pro-democratic lawmaker in Hong Kong for eight years, elected as the sole representative of the legal profession in the Hong Kong legislature, first in 2012, and then in 2016 with 69% majority of the votes. Dennis has practiced law with a focus in the Asia Pacific Region for more than 20 years. He represents international businesses in complex litigation and arbitration, and advises on cross-border commercial transactions involving the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong. Aside from his legal career, Dennis is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. He is appointed as a Distinguished Scholar at the Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service. He is also a visiting Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo, and a visiting Lecturer at Northeastern University.

Benjamin Qiu - Hong Kong and New York-based partner of Loeb & Loeb LLP, Benjamin focuses his practice on venture capital financing, fund management, corporate governance, and intellectual property portfolio-building, licensing and protection. Advising emerging growth enterprises from a variety of technology sectors, he has worked with digital and biotech companies as well as their investors. He previously served as general counsel and fund director at a PE fund based in Beijing.

Jian Wu - Regional Managing Director (Asia Pacific) of Kobre & Kim LLP based in Shanghai, Jian represents clients in cross-border matters involving high-stakes commercial disputes and investigations across the Asia Pacific region (APAC) and he is also responsible for the firm’s business development and strategy, product development and operations within the region. Mr. Wu has particular experience with multijurisdictional investigations and compliance reviews involving allegations of fraud, bribery, corruption and money laundering.  He also acts in a wide range of complex China-related disputes involving governments, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) including litigations in Hong Kong, the United States, and offshore jurisdictions.

Meg Utterback - Meg Utterback is a disputes and compliance partner in the King & Wood Mallesons New York office.  Meg represents Chinese and multinational companies in US litigation, international arbitration, and regulatory investigations. She also represents US and multinational companies in cross-border disputes, often overseeing PRC domestic litigation in combination with international arbitration or US litigation. She frequently advises Chinese and multinational clients in dealing with foreign regulators facing problems with overseas construction and investment projects, as well as assisting companies with investigations into bribery, insider trading, and embezzlement and related labor contract issues under the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Chinese law. Meg has guided foreign companies in China for the past 20 years and understands the challenges foreign companies face in the China market. She first moved to China in 1985, and until recently resided in Shanghai for fourteen years. Her working languages are Chinese and English.
