Have you ever thought about starting a nonprofit? Curious about the requirements? During this panel, a facilitator associated with the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI) will present on the fundamentals of nonprofit formation. A panel of founders and leaders will share their experiences operating nonprofit organizations and maintaining compliance with corporate governance requirements.

Our panel of speakers includes:

• Tiffany N. Tam, Senior Associate in Patterson Belknap’s Tax-Exempt Organizations Department
• Michelle Lee, President and Cofounder of Stand with Asian Americans, a civil rights organization focusing on anti-Asian workplace discrimination
• Lina Lee, founder of Communities Resist, a housing justice nonprofit, and current Executive Director of the Connecticut Bar Association

NYLPI is a non-profit civil rights law firm based in New York City, dedicated to advancing equality and civil rights with a focus on health justice, disability justice, and environmental justice. Established in 1976, NYLPI combines legal services, community organizing, and partnerships with the private bar to effect lasting change for underserved and underrepresented New Yorkers. Through its Pro Bono Clearinghouse, NYLPI connects community groups and nonprofit organizations with free legal assistance by leveraging a network of volunteer lawyers from New York's leading law firms and corporate legal departments. In addition to direct legal services, NYLPI offers a series of workshops tailored for nonprofit leaders designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of nonprofits, covering a range of topics pertinent to organizational development and legal compliance.

Pending New York CLE Credit.
