Join us as we discuss this month's book: No. 10 Doyers Street with the author Radha Vatsal. Refreshments will be provided.
No. 10 Doyers Street is a historical crime novel set in New York City's Chinatown in 1907. When Archana Morley, a woman journalist from India, becomes embroiled in a case involving the infamous gangster Mock Duck and his young daughter, she soon discovers the case may be tied to the mayor's plan to raze Chinatown. The novel explores themes of immigration, gentrification, and race through a unique pan-Asian lens, and has been praised by Kirkus Reviews, Foreword Reviews, and the Historical Novel Society, among others.
Radha Vatsal is the author of the acclaimed Kitty Weeks mystery series set in World War I-era New York. Born and raised in Mumbai, she holds a Ph.D. in Film History from Duke University and had writings featured in the The New York Times, The Atlantic, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.
