What has AABANY been up to?

AABANY is proud to say that we are among the largest and most active affinity bar associations not just in New York but in the country. Due to the tireless efforts of our many Committees, AABANY is able to engage the AAPI legal community through our diverse and engaging programming, which includes premiere flagship events, educational panels and CLE programs, community outreach, and social and networking opportunities. February 25, 2026 - AABANY Co-Sponsors Community Screening of “Voices Against Anti-Asian Hate” Documentary at Philippine Consulate
 

On February 25, 2026, the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY), together with the Asian American Law Fund of New York (AALFNY), the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA), and the Filipino American Lawyers Association of New York (FALA NY), joined the Philippine Consulate General in New York for a screening of Voices Against Anti-Asian Hate. The documentary, produced by AABANY and AALFNY, shares the experiences of individuals and families affected by anti-Asian violence in New York and highlights the legal and community responses that followed.

February 25, 2026 - AABANY Trusts & Estates Committee Celebrates the Year of the Horse at Tang Pavilion
 

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, AABANY’s Trusts & Estates Committee gathered to celebrate the Year of the Horse with a festive dinner in Midtown Manhattan. Held at Tang Pavilion, the evening brought together 18 attendees for a lively night of yummy food and community-building.

February 11, 2026 - AABANY Holds 2026 Annual Meeting of Members at King & Spalding 
 

On Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, AABANY held its Annual Meeting of Members at King & Spalding. The evening reflected on the accomplishments of the past year and looked forward to electing leadership for the new fiscal year ahead. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to King & Spalding for generously hosting us in their stunning new space, which was modern and spacious.

January 22, 2026 - AABANY Hosts its 2026 Winter Soiree for In-House Counsel and Law Firm Attorneys at Le Chalet 
 

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, AABANY’s In-House Counsel Committee and the Corporate Law Committee hosted its annual Winter Soiree. Returning once again to Le Chalet at Saks Fifth Avenue, the event transformed the heart of midtown into a warm, alpine-inspired venue where members came together for one of AABANY’s most well-attended and successful Winter Soirees to date.

January 22, 2026 - ADR Committee Co-Sponsors “Pathways to Court‐Connected ADR” CLE at NY County Courthouse in January
 

On Thursday, January 22, AABANY welcomed nearly 40 attorneys, mediators, and law students to 60 Centre Street for “Pathways to Court‐Connected ADR,” a 90‐minute CLE program designed to expand understanding of New York’s court‐sponsored mediation programs. Co‐sponsored by KALAGNY, NYSCDM, and the New York County Supreme Court Civil Branch ADR Team, the program offered both in‐person and virtual attendance, drawing a diverse and engaged audience eager to learn more about the growing landscape of court‐connected dispute resolution.

January 21, 2026 - The Solo and Small Firm Practice, Litigation, Judiciary, and Membership Committees Host “Solo & Small Law Firm Litigators: Strategies for Success and Why Clients Should Care” 
 

On January 21, 2026, AABANY’s Solo and Small Firm Practice, Litigation, Judiciary, and Membership Committees hosted “Solo & Small Law Firm Litigators: Strategies for Success and Why Clients Should Care” at the Welcome to Chinatown Hub, at 115 Bowery, bringing together attorneys and non-attorneys for a dynamic and engaging discussion.

January 15, 2026 - AABANY’s Anti-Asian Violence Task Force Leads Fourth Anniversary Prayer Walk for Michelle Go
 

On the morning of Thursday, January 15, 2026, nearly 50 people braved the bone-chilling winds in Times Square to participate in a Prayer Walk commemorating the anniversary of Michelle Alyssa Go’s passing.

January 10, 2026 - Thank You to Our Volunteers at the Brooklyn Pro Bono Clinic in January
 

Thank you to the Asian American Law Fund of New York (AALFNY), the Pro Bono & Community Service Committee (PBCS), the Chinese-American Planning Council, our incredible volunteers, and our community partners for your support at the pro bono legal clinic in Brooklyn on January 10th. Our volunteers met with 24 clients to address legal matters involving housing, wills and trusts, public benefits, immigration,  and workers compensation.

December 18, 2025 - AABANY and NYIPLA Young Lawyers Committee Host December Board Games Night
On Thursday, December 18, 2025, AABANY’s IP Committee teamed up with the New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA) Young Lawyers Committee for a fun and festive Board Games Night. The event brought together attorneys, law students, and friends for an evening of networking, laughter, and friendly competition over classic and modern board games.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to the Asian American Law Fund of New York (AALFNY), Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE), the Pro Bono & Community Service Committee (PBCS) and all the dedicated volunteers who contributed their time and expertise at the December 17th Pro Bono Clinic in Manhattan. December 9, 2025 - Dumplings & Discussion Wraps Up 2025 with Alan Chang, NY Yankees GC

On December 9, AABANY hosted the final Dumplings & Discussion fireside chat of the year, featuring Alan Chang, Senior Vice President & General Counsel of the New York Yankees. Over a wide selection of dumplings and other bites, Alan generously shared his career journey, offered candid insights into the sports industry, and gave practical advice for junior lawyers navigating their own paths. Thank you to the audience for their thoughtful questions and lively engagement, which made the discussion dynamic and meaningful. Attendees continued networking and exchanging ideas well into the night during the post-chat reception.

This year’s AABANY Annual Holiday Party took place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Upon The Palace, a premier Asian Fusion restaurant in Tribeca, New York. It was a fun night for everyone who attended and a perfect way to connect during the holiday season.

AABANY extends our sincere gratitude to the Asian American Law Fund of New York (AALFNY), Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE), Issues, Immigration, Pro Bono & Community Service (PBCS) Committees and our dedicated volunteers for your collaboration and contribution to the success of our pro bono legal clinic and immigration basic training Part 2 in Queens on December 3rd, 2025.

AABANY Pro Bono Clinic in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn

We thank the Pro Bono and Community Service (PBCS) Committee for another quarter of Pro Bono Clinics and their continued efforts to aid the AAPI community in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn.

The PBCS Committee held monthly clinics in Manhattan with our community partner AAFE (Asian Americans for Equality) at their Norfolk Street site on the Lower East Side. Together with AAFE, the Committee held bi-monthly clinics in downtown Flushing at AAFE’s offices there. The Committee held bi-monthly clinics in Brooklyn with our community partners, including the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC).
