Registration has closed and those who have registered will be contacted about any questions they have regarding the tour and arranging any training rides beforehand. If you are interested in riding with AABANY at the 5 Boro Bike Tour, email Yang Chen directly at yang.chen@aabany.org.
Have you ever ridden the Five Boro Bike Tour (“5BBT”)? Have you ever wanted to but for whatever reason just haven’t gotten around to it yet? Or did you ride it years ago and maybe want to do it again?
Well … here’s your chance to ride with your friends at AABANY. Some of you may know that Executive Director Yang Chen has been an avid cyclist for a few years. He has ridden in every 5BBT since 2019 (except when it was canceled due to COVID in 2020) and is already registered for the 2023 5BBT, scheduled for Sunday, May 7. If you would like to ride the 5BBT with AABANY’s ED and your friends at AABANY, register by April 14 on this page to receive further information on how to register for the Tour and ride together as part of our team. Some basic information: - 5BBT is a 40-mile bike ride through the five boroughs of New York City, on city streets closed to car traffic on Sunday, May 7. More than 30,000 riders from around the world participate.
- 5BBT is organized by Bike NYC, a non-profit organization which “empowers New Yorkers to transform their lives and their communities through bicycling.”
- 5BBT is not a race – you ride at your own pace, and finish when you finish.
- 5BBT is the only time you can ride your bike on major streets in New York, like Sixth Avenue, on the upper roadway of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, on the BQE, and on the Verrazzano Bridge – all without any cars in your way!
- You will be expected to cover your own costs for participation. The registration fee is $129 for adults.
- If you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one through Unlimited Biking, the official bike rental partner of Bike NYC
- More details about the Tour can be found on the Bike NYC website.
We don’t expect you to just show up on May 7 and ride 40 miles without getting ready. Those who register will receive emails about training rides with AABANY’s ED in the weeks leading up to the big day.
Riding on New York City streets on two-wheels without car traffic is a great way to spend a Sunday in the spring. Please sign up to join us. Questions? Email them to main@aabany.org.
