The Issues Committee is working to reactivate the AABANY Community Response Task Force (CRTF). The relaunched CRTF is a conduit when community issues arise to a pool of dedicated lawyers and law firms who will act. CRTF volunteers can take on crucial projects and tasks to support the community by:

• acting as counsel for local nonprofits and community-based organizations needing guidance on nonprofit governance, fundraising, labor and employment, or other business matters;
• acting as counsel or local counsel in impact litigation cases brought by nonprofit civil rights advocacy groups in state and federal courts;
• assisting in the drafting of amicus briefs for civil rights advocacy groups;
• offering pro bono counsel to community members affected by crime, needing humanitarian immigration relief, or whose rights have been violated;
• engaging in community education and outreach; and
• acting as in a liaison capacity between local community-based organizations and AABANY.
