The Nassau County Equal Justice in the Courts Committee has partnered with the Nassau County Women in the Courts Committee to present a FREE virtual program on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, "Domestic Violence Proceedings: Legal Framework, Practice, and Perspectives." This free virtual CLE program will provide an overview of domestic violence prosecutions from arraignment through disposition, the purpose and impact of orders of protection, and the unique considerations faced by both prosecutors and defense attorneys. The program will be presented by Daniel W. Russo, Esq., Immediate Past President of the Nassau County Bar Association and Criminal Defense Attorney, and Emma Slane, Esq., Bureau Chief, Special Victims Bureau, Nassau County District Attorney's Office. The program will be moderated by the Honorable Lisa A. Cairo, Judge of the Nassau County Supreme Court and Co-Chair of the Nassau County Women in the Courts Committee. For those eligible for CLE credit, 1 credit in the Area of Professional Practice will be available. All are welcome to attend this free presentation, and registration is not required.
