Receiving notice of a grievance can be one of the most stressful experiences in a lawyer's career. This program brings together members of the Attorney Grievance Committees of the First and Second Judicial Departments, disciplinary counsel, and Justices of the Appellate Division to provide a practical guide to avoiding, responding to, and understanding attorney disciplinary matters.

Panelists will discuss the most common grievances filed against attorneys, how the disciplinary process works from complaint through disposition, effective strategies for responding to grievances, and the ethical and professionalism issues that most frequently lead lawyers into trouble. The program will also examine civility in litigation, common ethical pitfalls in private practice, and practical approaches to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and professional conduct.

Drawing on the unique perspectives of grievance committee members, disciplinary counsel, and appellate judges, this interactive discussion will provide attendees with real-world guidance on navigating ethical challenges before they become disciplinary problems.

This event offers 2 CLE Credits (pending) 2 credits in Ethics and Professionalism.
