We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for mentors and mentees who wish to apply to join the 2026-2027 AABANY Mentorship Program. Mentees will be matched with mentors on a first-come, first-served basis.

The AABANY Mentorship Program provides support, advice, and networking opportunities to aid both mentors and mentees in their professional and personal development. Each mentee is matched to a mentor who will serve as a teacher, role model, and resource to the mentee. By way of one-to-one relationships and Mentorship Program events held throughout the year, the program will provide the structure to advance professional growth and networking skills of both mentors and mentees.

Candidates must submit only one mentor or mentee application; dual applications will not be accepted. However, if you are interested in serving as both a mentor and mentee, first submit an application for the primary role you wish to serve and then contact the Co-Chairs of the Mentorship Program directly to advise of your interest in the other role. Should the opportunity arise, we will use our discretion to assign certain interested candidates to both mentor and mentee roles in order to further the objectives of the broader Mentorship Program.

Applications will be open from August 17, 2026 to September 11, 2026. Mentor-mentee matches will be sent out via email in late September.

As we prepare for the 2026 Fall Conference, we are seeking volunteers to help make this year's conference another success! Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist with registration, event logistics, attendee support, and other conference-related needs. The In-House Counsel Link-Up Reception provides law firm invitees an opportunity to engage with numerous senior in-house counsel who have indicated a current or future need for outside legal services. So far, we have more than 30 GCs representing industries like entertainment, commerce, and banking signed up to attend! This is a great opportunity to meet diverse in-house attorneys for current or future legal services needs. In-house participants at the Reception will either (i) have direct responsibility for making decisions on hiring outside counsel or (ii) have significant influence over selection of outside counsel and can arrange for meetings with more senior counsel within their respective organizations.

AABANY’s Career Advancement Committee is hosting its Annual Diversity Career Fair & Expo at the 2026 Fall Conference from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The Diversity Career Fair & Expo will feature selected public sector, corporate sector, and law firm employers who will host informational sessions, meet and greet interested applicants, and/or conduct first round on-site interviews. In addition, attendees can meet members of AABANY’s Career Advancement Committee and receive career advice, as well as learn more about other job openings.

The Diversity Career Fair & Expo is free for all registered attendees of the Fall Conference. Registrants can indicate their interest in attending the Diversity Career Fair & Expo by checking off that box in the registration form.

Join AABANY's Women's Committee for an evening of dumpling-making! This 3-hour hands-on dumpling-making experience will teach participants how to make dumpling dough from scratch, prepare both meat and vegetarian fillings, and fold handmade dumplings.

All tools and materials will be provided, along with appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks. The event is $30 per person (for both members and non-members). This fee is not refundable. The remaining cost is generously sponsored by Ashurst Perkins Coie.

• AABANY Asia Practice Committee Hosts U.S.–China Legal Elite Dialogue Forum & Dinner

AABANY, in partnership with the Asian American Law Fund of New York (AALFNY), is pleased to announce the Turning the Tide (T3) Project. Following the February 10, 2021 publication of AABANY and Paul, Weiss’ report, A Rising Tide of Hate and Violence against Asian Americans in New York During COVID-19: Impact, Causes, Solutions, AABANY established an Anti-Asian Violence Task Force to advance the proposals outlined in the report and consider other solutions to address the surge of anti-Asian hate and violence in the community. The Task Force advances the T3 project, which aims to incorporate a three-pronged approach encompassing education and communication, advocacy, and research, to address anti-Asian hate and violence.

Please stand together with AABANY and AALFNY in turning the tide against anti-Asian hate and violence. We are now accepting donations to support the T3 Project. Donations can be made to AALFNY and will be tax deductible to the extent permitted by applicable law.
