NEW YORK -- December 29, 2020 -- AABANY opposes the denials of the certifications of 46 New York Supreme Court Justices, who will be forced to retire by the end of this year as a result of the denials. During this unprecedented health crisis facing our state, we require our most experienced and senior justices to ensure the fair administration of justice and to function at as high a level as possible. Their work is more critical than ever. Removing these judges is not the solution to the state budget deficit and will detrimentally affect the legal community and litigants. NEW YORK – November 30, 2020. The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) congratulates Kin Ng, Chief of the Red Zone Trial Bureau at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, as one of this year’s recipients of the New York City Bar Association’s Thomas E. NEW YORK -- November 11, 2020 -- The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) is proud to announce the launch of its Legal Referral and Information Service (LRIS). AABANY’s LRIS will connect members of the New York Asian American community with qualified legal counsel, overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers and increasing the accessibility of legal referral services in the Greater New York area for an under-served demographic. NEW YORK -- November 10, 2020. The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) acknowledges the historical election of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in their victorious bid for the White House announced by the Associated Press on November 7, 2020. Vice President-elect Harris, the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants, is not only the first woman, but also the first South Asian and Black American to be elected to the Vice Presidency of the United States. NEW YORK -- October 15, 2020 – The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) is proud to announce that applications for the Don H. Liu Scholars Program (“DHL Program”) are now open. The DHL Program was founded in 2014 by two past presidents of AABANY and seeks to identify and cultivate future Asian American leaders in the legal community to address the single most important reality facing Asian American professionals today: the barrier to advancement. NEW YORK - August 25, 2020 - The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) honors the historical significance of Senator Kamala Harris’ acceptance of the Democratic Party’s nomination for Vice President on August 19, 2020. Senator Harris, the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants, is the first woman of color to accept the nomination for vice president from a major political party.  Read the full press release here.

NEW YORK - July 2, 2020 - During this period of upheaval caused by the evolving Covid-19 pandemic, the Asian American Bar Association of New York (“AABANY”) will be reopening its pro bono legal clinic in a remote capacity to continue aiding the Asian Pacific American community with legal issues including: immigration, housing, employment, family, and elder law. To promote the remote clinic as well as other rich resources relating to the Covid-19 pandemic that AABANY has developed, student volunteers will be going door-to-door this Friday, July 3, to share informational flyers with Asian neighborhood small businesses and residents in Manhattan and Queens. NEW YORK – May 19, 2020 – The Asian American Bar Association of New York (“AABANY”), in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, will be presenting on May 21 a “Fortune 500 General Counsel Panel: Leadership During Crisis” as part of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (“NAPABA”) General Counsel Webinar Series. The event will feature a panel of prominent general counsel covering a range of industries to discuss topics that range from advice to aspiring general counsel, crisis management with a focus on the response to the pandemic, collaboration with the board and c-suite, demonstrating legal department value, diversity and inclusion initiatives and maximizing the value that outside counsel brings to companies.
