The Nominations Committee welcomes applications to fill the vacancies immediately. The Nominations Committee will select a slate of candidates to be included on a ballot form that will be sent out to the membership a month before the
Annual Meeting. The Nominations Committee plans to interview candidates after all nominations have been received and report to the Board by the December 16, 2025 Board meeting.
Nominations by email or postal mail must be received by November 16, 2025.

Wong Kim Ark was born in San Francisco in 1873 to parents who had emigrated to the United States from China. In 1894, he took a trip
to China. When he returned to San Francisco a year later, he was denied reentry, as the authorities invoked the Chinese Exclusion Act. Wong argued that he could not be denied admission because he was born in this country and therefore
was an American citizen. The Supreme Court ruled in Wong Kim Ark's favor, holding that, pursuant to the Fourteenth Amendment, Wong Kim Ark was a U.S. citizen, even though his parents were "subjects of the Emperor of China." On January
20, 2025, shortly after being sworn in, President Trump signed an Executive Order restricting birthright citizenship. Litigation immediately followed.
The Fourth Annual Fall Symposium of the Center on Asian Americans and
the Law at Fordham Law School will present a two-part program on birthright citizenship. First, we will tell the story of Wong Kim Ark, a Chinese cook who took his case to the United States Supreme Court in 1898. Second, a distinguished
panel will explore the issues presented by the recent Executive Order.

Corporations Commissioner and worked as a corporate and securities attorney at K&L Gates and O’Melveny & Myers.

AABANY, in partnership with the Asian American Law Fund of New York (AALFNY), is pleased to announce the Turning the Tide (T3) Project. Following the February 10, 2021 publication of AABANY and Paul, Weiss’ report, A Rising Tide of Hate and Violence against Asian Americans in New York During COVID-19: Impact, Causes, Solutions, AABANY established an Anti-Asian Violence Task Force to advance the proposals outlined in the report and consider other solutions to address the surge of anti-Asian hate and violence in the community. The Task Force advances the T3
project, which aims to incorporate a three-pronged approach encompassing education and communication, advocacy, and research, to address anti-Asian hate and violence.
Please stand together with AABANY and AALFNY in turning
the tide against anti-Asian hate and violence. We are now accepting donations to support the T3 Project. Donations can be made to AALFNY and will be tax deductible to the extent permitted by applicable law.

In Fall 2020, AABANY launched a legal referral and information service (“LRIS”) as a public service primarily to help the general public, and especially the Asian American community. The goals of the LRIS are to provide information and referrals,
to recommend lawyers or other resources to provide competent, ethical legal advice and representation, to educate the public about legal representation and to increase respect for the legal profession.
We are seeking qualified
and experienced lawyers to serve on the panels of lawyers eligible to receive referrals from AABANY’s LRIS.
This is a vital program for AABANY that we anticipate will greatly benefit our panelists and fellow members as well
as the public, and especially the Asian American community. If you would like to apply to be considered for the LRIS panel, please contact joinlris@aabany.org, and we will send you an application
