If you are interested in applying, please send your CV or resume to main@aabany.org. Below are descriptions of the Mentorship Program and Student Outreach Committee.

Mentorship Program:
AABANY’s Mentorship Program provides support, advice, and networking opportunities to aid both mentors and mentees in their professional and personal development. Each mentee is matched to a mentor who will serve as a teacher, role model, and resource to the mentee. By way of one-to-one relationships and Mentorship Program events held throughout the year, the program will provide the structure to advance professional growth and networking skills of both mentors and mentees. Student Outreach Committee:
AABANY’s Student Outreach Committee seeks to equip APA students with concrete skills to excel academically and professionally. In addition, the Committee acts as a bridge between law students and attorneys, encouraging APA students to be active in the APA legal community. To achieve these goals, the Committee sponsors career programs, networking events, and social activities. Currently, there are more than 300 APA law student members in AABANY, and the Committee works with approximately 18 law schools in the tri-state region.

Congratulations to Hon. Denny Chin

Congratulations to Nelson Mar

AABANY congratulates its member Nelson Mar, a senior staff attorney and education specialist at Bronx Legal Services, on receiving a Medal of Distinguished Service from Binghamton University. He received the award at the 2017 Binghamton University Alumni Association Special Recognition Awards ceremony, which was held on Thursday, March 30, at the Edison Ballroom at 240 W. 47th St., in Manhattan.

The Medal recognizes Nelson’s tireless efforts in aiding the development of the Binghamton community by providing extensive assistance on career-related matters to both Harpur College of Arts and Sciences students and alumni. Examples of his efforts include the hosting of an internship program, participation in networking events, and involvement with Harpur’s Asian and Asian American Alumni Council. The Medal also honors Nelson’s career endeavors as a prominent figure in the field of education law, in particular for his lead role in TH et. al. v. Farina et. al, a case which ended the disturbing practice of NYC public school teachers and administrators sending students to the emergency room for disruptive behavior.
