Call for Applicants: NAPABA Northeast Alternate Regional Governor

AABANY is seeking a candidate for the NAPABA Northeast Alternate Regional Governor (ARG) to represent the region as a member of NAPABA’s Board of Governors.

Position description
The position of Alternate Regional Governor (ARG) and Regional Governor (RG) is a four consecutive year commitment. Each year commences and ends with the NAPABA quarterly board meeting at Convention (ARG 2025-27, RG 2027-29). RGs serve as voting members of the NAPABA Board of Governors, expected to contribute to overseeing the strategic direction of NAPABA and advance NAPABA’s mission and strategic plan. RGs are expected to attend quarterly board meetings in person, serve as the board liaison to their region, serve on at least one board subcommittee, and facilitate the election process of future RG/ARGs in their region. RGs must be direct NAPABA members. ARGs in the Northeast serve a 2-year term as non-voting members of the NAPABA Board of Governors and are encouraged, but not required, to attend quarterly board meetings in person, contribute fully to board discussions, and serve as liaisons to their region. The ARG term serves as an onboarding period prior to the ARG becoming an RG after the ARG term expires.

Candidate interest - submission process
Please send your resume, a bio, and a statement of interest to main@aabany.org to be considered. You must have a NAPABA direct membership to qualify. The requested materials must be received by July 18, 2025 to be considered. Please direct any questions to main@aabany.org.

If you are a current, active AABANY member interested in serving as Membership Committee Co-Chair, please send your resume to main@aabany.org, with your intent to serve if appointed along with a summary of your qualifications and ideas for improving membership experience for existing members and how we can encourage more people to join or renew their AABANY memberships.

AABANY, in partnership with the Asian American Law Fund of New York (AALFNY), is pleased to announce the Turning the Tide (T3) Project. Following the February 10, 2021 publication of AABANY and Paul, Weiss’ report, A Rising Tide of Hate and Violence against Asian Americans in New York During COVID-19: Impact, Causes, Solutions, AABANY established an Anti-Asian Violence Task Force to advance the proposals outlined in the report and consider other solutions to address the surge of anti-Asian hate and violence in the community. The Task Force advances the T3 project, which aims to incorporate a three-pronged approach encompassing education and communication, advocacy, and research, to address anti-Asian hate and violence.

Please stand together with AABANY and AALFNY in turning the tide against anti-Asian hate and violence. We are now accepting donations to support the T3 Project. Donations can be made to AALFNY and will be tax deductible to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Join AABANY’s Legal Referral and Information Service Panel
In Fall 2020, AABANY launched a legal referral and information service (“LRIS”) as a public service primarily to help the general public, and especially the Asian American community. The goals of the LRIS are to provide information and referrals, to recommend lawyers or other resources to provide competent, ethical legal advice and representation, to educate the public about legal representation and to increase respect for the legal profession.

We are seeking qualified and experienced lawyers to serve on the panels of lawyers eligible to receive referrals from AABANY’s LRIS.

This is a vital program for AABANY that we anticipate will greatly benefit our panelists and fellow members as well as the public, and especially the Asian American community. If you would like to apply to be considered for the LRIS panel, please contact joinlris@aabany.org, and we will send you an application form. If you have any questions, please send them to the same address.
